Peace Message of Christmas – Love and Peace

December 26, 2014
"Glory to God in the Highest and Peace to men of goodwill!"

Promote Peace “Glory to God in the Highest and Peace to men of goodwill!”

The Message of Christmas is clear and simple, namely that a life of peace is made available to all and sundry, who  wills goodness to all in mind, heart, body and spirit rendered through the Gospel message Luke: 2,14. The birth of Jesus born in a stable, couldn’t deliver a more pertinent message, humble and simple, yet sublime; delivered through a majestic star. A Star shinning in the darkness of a night. To the Magi it appeared both Day and Night. ‘Day’ it shines through the darkness of sin and ignorance, ‘Night’, the darkness all around of selfishness and corruption. Pope Francis in his Christmas message said, “God’s message of peace is stronger than darkness and corruption.” So, all we need to do is pursue peace and eschew war.

This message of peace is common to all religions; Buddha, Prophet Muhammad, Confucius, LaoTze, and founders of all other religions have spoken about it, exhorting all mankind to work for peace and abhor war. Present day world leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa, Morihei Ueshiba, Diana Robinson, and many others, have made references to the need to work for peace, with great urgency. In recent times we have seen in world news, how religious leaders of different Faiths, shedding their sectarian differences have come together in love, and made a call to end war and terrorism and work for peace. Isn’t that a great example to emulate? Peace like happiness, begins within. What you are, is what you will be to your to your neighbor and the world around you. Like Jesus who is known as the ‘Prince of Peace,’ let us all be princes and princesses of peace to all around us.

Children are the grassroots level to begin peace, and work towards world peace. Let us help promote peace education of young children to become ‘peace makers,’ in their cultures and life-styles.
