The word PEACE in need of re-definition!

September 18, 2012

As we approach world Peace Day September 21st as declared by the United Nations, some reflection on the word ‘Peace,’ in today’s context is imperative and compelling. This in view of the shock waves that shattered and disoriented many in recent times; complacent and confident, trusting in the present world order!

Beginning with the Columbine school massacre in 1999, despite the empasis given to ‘safety,’ and ‘security,’ and the measures taken to prevent such incidents, particularly in schools, there isn’t a day that has gone by without ‘Breaking News,’ hitting headlines on TV and Newspapers and other media of killings and shootings all over the country, besides those the world over.

Mass shootings in Aurora, Colorado; (Congresswoman) Gabrielle Giffords shot in Arizona; Shooting on first day of school, Baltimore County High School Md. These are some of the more recent events that hit headlines.

Nobody is born ‘evil,’ or a psycopath or even a sociopathe. it is the product of the failiure of an intention or lack of attempt to restrain oneself from inflicting what one knows to be harmful. There is no Therapy for evil, but certainly the education of the child – the future man, to counteract the evil impulse within is sure worth its trouble… Read More (more…)
